The Hunt For A Red November

Fred Dalton Thompson As a political conservative, my hopes for a "Red November" in 2008 were rather gloomy considering the current field of Presidential contenders of the Republican Party. Campaign frontrunners such as Pro-abortion, anti-gun, ex-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Arizona Senator John McCain, all seem to be middle-of-the-road Republicans. None of which have any appeal to this conserative from Alaska. Perhaps Senator McCain should consider jumping political parties (it didn't hurt Joe Lieberman any). I'll bet he would garner alot more support from the liberals. Well ok, at least he wouldn't be considered a RINO.

Enter former U.S. Senator Fred Dalton Thompson. Leading the polls as of 4 July 2007, he has yet to officially announce his candidacy for the office of President of the United States. Never-the-less, he has a great deal of support in part because there is a great dissatisfaction with the current field of candidates, and also in part because of his "guy-next-door" way about him. He has the ability to set people at ease and make people feel comfortable around him. At the same time, he has a commanding presence with his deep voice, his straight-talking way and imposing 6'-5" frame. In Columbia, South Carolina last week, he gave a 30-minute speech and touched on issues from Iraq and terrorism to immigration and taxes. "His style was very different. It's a little folksy, a little refreshing in a race that's going to get spirited," said Katon Dawson, the Republican chairman in South Carolina. Chip Felkel, a Republican consultant in South Carolina added: "I was impressed. He has the ability to talk to people like he's sitting on their front porch."

A 30 minute speech... Hey! I like that. No beating around the bush, and right to the point. I hate going the long way around the barn anyway. My father (a Minister), always said, "One should never talk longer than the rear-end can endure." He was right!

Fred is perceived as a threat by the left, and they will use their left wing publishing arm to trash anyone who gets in the way of their Jack-booted march to totalitarian power (as evidenced in this hit piece by Kim Chipman and Julianna Goldman on the Bloomberg.com web site, dated June 28th). I believe he has the intestinal fortitude to stand by his convictions, and lead our nation in the right direction (pun intended) in a time of great threat and turmoil.

In Fred Thompson, we find a candidate that is a true conservative, able to unite the people of our party and our nation. He is a Christian man having good Christian morals and values, with a long and strong record of fighting for issues that concern most Christians today. He is not a candidate who has "evolved" to these postions or values over the years, nor has he said that he was a "lifelong" advocate of an issue to find out that he had recently taken up an issue, all just for political expediency as some candidates have done recently. He is a man who is steadfast in his conservative views. He is no defeatist in the face of difficulty. He has not wavered in his support of our troops, or their mission in fighting the evil in the world and the Global War on Terror whether it be in Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere else in the world, including our homeland. He is a strong supporter of our military and its mission. He understands the grave consequences of pre-maturely pulling American troops from Iraq, leaving behind a breeding ground and relatively safe haven for Al-Quaeda, and Islamo-Fascist terrorists emboldening their supporters in Iran and Syria. We need someone with Fred's conviction, Christian faith, values, and principles that will help guide him and sustain him, that can be coupled with his natural God given leadership abilities to lead our nation forward. He is against congressmen or congresswomen who violate the Logan act by trying to undermind the publicly elected executive leadership of this country with ill advised foreign visits to nations such as Syria with leaders who sponsor terrorism. He has always taken the position that abortion is wrong and that Roe vs Wade was bad law founded on bad science and needed to be revisited by the supreme court. He is a Federalist and strict constitutionalist who believes in smaller Federal Government, giving more control to the state and local levels. He believes in strict seperation of powers and is totally against judges who try to legislate from the bench.

In my opinion, the time is right for Fred Dalton Thompson. I am in "The Hunt For A Red November" in 2008, and Senator Thompson is my choice for President of the United States.
